Baltimore Road Runners Club
About Us:
The Baltimore Road Runners Club was founded to promote running for both the recreational and the competitive runner. Our current membership come from various running backgrounds and ages. Some members are competitive marathoners and ultra-marathoners while others compete on the track and in cross-country.
We offer programs and opportunities for all types of runners, from newcomers to experienced. Whether your goal is to run a marathon or just to get into shape, you'll find other club members who share your interests. As an active member of the Baltimore Road Runners Club you will never find a dull moment. Whether it is a road race, a club-sponsored cook out, a track workout or working at a club-hosted race, there are plenty of fun and interesting activities going on throughout the year.
Conditions may lead to cancellation of a BRRC race or event, sometimes we will have the information in time to update this site. More timely information may be found on the club's website - http://www.brrc.com. Calling the BRRC Hotline at 410-377-7327 is the best way to check the status of a race or event.

URGENT - Masters 6 Miler delayed one week!
The Masters 6 Miler and Social will take place next week due to weather conditions. The race will be at 9AM on 12/13, followed by a social at the home of George and Zoe Yannakakis.

I feel we need to promote the club's presence on Athlinks more with the objective of having more sign up as club members. I'll make an effort to seek out people that are already members here and invite them. I urge the rest of you to do the same.

What: Upcoming Race

Where:  Baltimore, Maryland, USA The BRRC Billy Goat Series enters its twelfth year with this pair of races the morning of Superbowl Sunday. The course is a five mile loop you do once for the 5 mile race or twice for the 10 mile race. The terrain is trail, grass and one or two small inclines ( hee, hee ). Cromwell Valley park is one mile outside beltway on Cromwell Bridge Rd. Take Willow Grove farm entrance to park, not the Sherwood House entrance.

What: Upcoming Race

Where: Phoenix, Maryland, USA This race is the kickoff of the 2010 BRRC Grand Prix Series. The race is eight miles along Loch Raven Drive in the beautiful Loch Raven watershed.
This race is open to all. To count this race for the 2010 BRRC Grand Prix Series, you must be a member on race day. If you sign up for membership at race registration, you are considered a member and will be included in the GPS Standings.

Where: Phoenix, Maryland, USA Join us for the first race of the New Year! What could be a better way to kick off 2010? The BRRC is sponsoring its traditional predicted time race where everyone has a chance to win. Each entrant predicts his/her final running time and goes for it. You will not be allowed to wear a watch during the race.

Where: Sparks, Maryland, USA RACE RESCHEDULED FROM THE 6th TO DECEMBER 13th!
This is the club's final race for 2009 and is for Master Runners (40+) only. The race takes place on a very challenging (hilly) course. The race starts on York Road just south of the intersection with Quacker Bottom Road.
Following the race there is a social at a club member's house. See club website for details.
Register for the race on site just prior to the start. You can also pay for attending the social at the same time.

What: Meeting
When: Dec 3 2009 7:00PM
Where: Baltimore, Maryland, USA The annual BRRC General Membership meeting wraps up the past year, and includes several important votes.
The General Membership meeting will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009 in the cafeteria of Loch Raven High School. Officers will report to the members; officers and Board members will be elected for 2010; and awards will be presented to Grand Prix Series winners.
Additionally, the following important topics are on the agenda:
•Treasurer’s Report
•Year in Review
•Vote: Proposed increase in membership dues: $25 individual/$30 family
•Vote: Proposed revision of the number of delegates to serve on the Board of Directors from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 7.

What: Upcoming Race
When: Nov 28 2009 9:00AM
Where: Sparks, Maryland, USA The race is an out and back course primarily along the Northern Central Railroad Trail. The start and finish are at Sparks Elementary School, and the first and last few miles of the race are on rural paved roads. A few hills occur on the paved roads that begin and end the course, but most of the race is on the flat stretches of the NCR Trail. The trail surface is a compacted combination of dirt and fine stone. The trail winds along the Gunpowder River, through quiet farmland.
The Two-Person Relay covers the same route at the same time as the marathon. Each team member runs a 13.1 mile leg of the relay.

Where: Owings Mills, Maryland, USA This is a 5 mile cross country race, run on dirt trails and grassy sections around the school grounds. It is moderately hilly and should not be muddy. The course is made up of sections of cross country courses used by the McDonogh Eagles. The race
starts and finishes adjacent to the school's athletic field. This is the 8th and final race of the BRRC Grand Prix Series.

What: Social Event/Party

Where: Maryland, USA BRRC Board Member Brian Flowers, his wife Margaret, and their family are again inviting BRRC members to their home in Sparks for the 5th Annual Family Picnic. The day includes a cookout, swimming, and club awards. Live music by local runners will again be part of the poolside entertainment!
Food will include grilled hamburgers, veggie burgers, chips, pretzels, lemonade, soft drinks, and beer . We are asking members whose last name begins with A through M to bring a side dish to share, and N through Z to bring a dessert.
