TriMonster is proud to be the official triathlon training program for the Fitness Formula Union Station Club, and is the exclusive training partner for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Our athletes have raised over $100,000 for TeamCF since 2004.

There are several great races and events almost every weekend, so keep training, sign up for a few events, and let us know when you'll be racing so we can keep in touch and bump into each other this fall! I'll likely be out there almost every weekend, so drop me a line if you're racing this fall. Right now I'm targeting the following events... Beachathlon (this weekend!), Chicago Marathon (Oct 11th - come watch!), Pumpkins in the Park 5k (Oct 17th), Trick or Treat Trot 10k (Oct 25th), Hot Chocolate 15k (Nov 1st), Sky Rise Chicago (Nov 15th), and who knows what else!

This was the very first triathlon I ever did (as a warmup before the sprint distance Chicago Tri) and I've done it every year since. Unfortunately this year I'm doing the Steelhead 70.3 race instead and can't go this year. :-(

It's a nice small race with a beach start swim where you can basically touch the bottom of the lake and walk for most of it if you had to. The bike has a few technical turns, but nice smooth roads for the most part and the run is a nice short 1.5 mile sprint. The post race food/bbq is great too! They have a kid's race as well which is always fun to watch. Great for first timers who need to practice transitions, boost confidence, and shake off jitters a few weeks before the Chicago Tri. Also fun for experienced people who want to take a stab at placing very high in their age group at a small race! It's one of the only races literally in Chicago and while there's parking available, you could even ride your bike down the lakefront bike path to the start like I usually do every year!

Bike Fitting Clinic @ Get A Grip Cycles

Hey everyone, A good number of you have expressed interest in this, so I've arranged for a free Bike Fitting Clinic for our TriMonsters group (friends and family welcome!) at Get A Grip Cycles' Bike Fit Studio at 621 W. Fulton Ave. on Thursday September 18th from 7-8pm. It's about 9 blocks away from the FFC Union Station gym. We need to arrive early (aim for 6:45pm) and I need at least 8-12 people confirmed so if you're interested, please RSVP to Chris Navin ASAP. For those who are interested, we could do a group workout at the gym beforehand (reviving the Thursday spin workout sessions?). Just a thought...
