This was the very first triathlon I ever did (as a warmup before the sprint distance Chicago Tri) and I've done it every year since. Unfortunately this year I'm doing the Steelhead 70.3 race instead and can't go this year. :-(

It's a nice small race with a beach start swim where you can basically touch the bottom of the lake and walk for most of it if you had to. The bike has a few technical turns, but nice smooth roads for the most part and the run is a nice short 1.5 mile sprint. The post race food/bbq is great too! They have a kid's race as well which is always fun to watch. Great for first timers who need to practice transitions, boost confidence, and shake off jitters a few weeks before the Chicago Tri. Also fun for experienced people who want to take a stab at placing very high in their age group at a small race! It's one of the only races literally in Chicago and while there's parking available, you could even ride your bike down the lakefront bike path to the start like I usually do every year!
