A Note About: Results and Race Requests
Dear Athletes -
It has been our goal since launching Athlinks to always deliver the absolute highest level of customer service to our members. As we have continued to grow and add new members, the volume of
race and results requests
has vastly increased. You have been doing a great job of alerting us of new and past races to add to the database. And, while we are currently adding well over a million individual results each month, it is still not enough!
As a result, we have fallen behind our goal of a 48 hour maximum turnaround time in responding to your requests. In response, we have taken the following actions to correct the problem and serve you better:
We have doubled the size of our response team to support the current volume;
We have implemented new software to empower our team to work more efficiently and add more results per person;
We have developed a better interface for you, the member, with which to add events and results directly to the directory (pending an approval process).
The new members are being training and brought up to speed as we speak. Please bear with us for the next week as we integrate the new team members, train them on the new software, and catch up on past requests. You may still submit requests and they will be added to the queue.
We will be launching the new Add A Race forms next week. This will also give our members the ability to track upcoming races as well as add “unofficial” results to their profile until the official times are posted to the directory.
Thank you for your continued support and making Athlinks the fastest growing community for endurance athletes on the Web.
Best Regards and Happy Racing,
Troy Busot

P.S. If you are interested in volunteering your time to be a part of building the results database, please
drop us an note on the contact us page
and let us know. We always need trusted members to help with the approval process, handing out flyers at races, and adding races and results to the directory.
Volunteers will receive Athlinks T-Shirts, decals, and any other gear we can digg up around the offices!

Everyone could do a little help, I've already volunteered! Come on guys, this site is free, let's all lend a hand!

I'll promote the site at races. I've already asked about wearing a singlet with the logo to advertise at races. Waiting to hear back.

Lou - "unofficial" results will be kept completely separate from the official results. It would be presented as more of an individual placeholder than a complete set of results.

Hopefully we are getting closer to this being a faster process. I submitted on 5/1, along with some friends, a race done on 4/29, that still isn't posted.
Troy: Use us volunteers! We're here to help and want to see our results posted.

Lou -
It is a hotly requested item - mainly for older races that don't exist online any longer. But from a current race perspective, you would be allowed to put up your own individual unofficial time the day of the race along with your request. Then, a day or two later, once the official results are added, it would remove your unofficial time and replace it with the official time.
During that time, your unofficial time would not be mingled in with your official times - it will just be a line-item off the the right of your results on that page.
Brandon -
We're actually just about caught up! The guys are pretty much up to speed and we're just finishing the add-event form and will launch it over the weekend. Once it's up, you guys can add the events right to the directory for approval. Once approved, the events will show up right away.
Thanks guys!

Troy,
I think you guys are doing a great job. This site is really taking off and membership is increasing at a more rapid pace(and I am proud that you are local guys for me). I would be glad to help volunteer with entry, promotion, etc - what ever is needed. Someone should create a promotion banner that we could paste on other websites we may have. I think that you have great ideas and the things that have rolled out so far have been great. I like the unofficial results also - even the Kentucky Derby is your unofficial winner until the results are verified and made offical.

5/11/2007
Mark - thanks for that. we'll have a bunch more promo tools coming soon to get out to you guys. Hey - did you get the t-shirt yet? Let me know. We'll be at the Tempe International race in two weeks. We're trying to get down to the Komen race this weekend - I'm sure that Andrew will be there.

Troy,
I have not received the shirt yet. I know Andrew said it was returned a couple of times. I live @ Dobson & Warner, so I could pick it up if need be. I might check out Tempe international. I will be at Lucky of the Draw in Peoria on Sunday.

There should be a way to promote Athlinks through running blogs (banners to promote the website.) That could help.

How about some sweet Athlinks.com jerseys???

5/17/2007
I agree with Adama about banners etc I wrote about it on my blog and stole the logo but some bone fide stuff would help getting the name out there

If a race is 23 days out and still does not have posted results is it likely it slipped through the cracks? Obviously there are much more recent results up, and I know that the results are on the race website. It is posted here, but the results are not.
by
Troy Busot (Athlinks)

Matthew - yes. Some races do slip through the cracks.
We are launching the new tools on Wednesday this week that will let you add the race yourself and alert us to missing results. That will take a big step out of what our guys have to do and therefore free up a good chunk of time for them to add more and more results.
Also, you will also have some error/mistake reporting tools and other feedback options built in when there are problems with results that will allow us to respond even faster.
Matthew - let us know which race results you're looking for - you just drop me a direct message.

I'm using Safari....what are the problems with Athlinks and Safari?
by

5/23/2007
that makes 2 of us...
by

5/23/2007
The two known issues are with image uploads and some phantom post-backs on comments and results pages. We're working through it - Safari is just a completely different animal than any other browser out there, so it's difficult to test unless you're actually doing your development on a Mac - and I'm not even sure if that's possible ;-)
(Yes, mac-heads, I'm joking about the last part)
by
John Sellinger
5/23/2007
If I remember correctly, you guys have at least a couple MACs that you used at the Gage Benefit to register users. If you need a test case I am more than happy to help. Let me know if you need anything.

Just did a 1/2 marathon today.... I doubt I will see results on athlinks..You seem to have something against Alaska. I thought this site was sorta cool until I found out Alaska is out of the mix....Why??
by
Andrew Neugebauer (Athlinks)
5/26/2007
Hey Ian. We have nothing against Alaska. We will get your results posted very soon. We are launching new tools that will let you add races yourself and alert us to missing results. This will speed up the process of getting results into your profile.
The new tools should be up in the next couple days.
Our team will start adding as many AK results as we can find. Send me a message directly and let me know the name of the 1/2 marathon you competed in today. Thanks for contacting us.

Troy Busot (Athlinks)

BTW - we have about 180 races in Alaska over the past three years (2004-2006), but for some reason, none yet for 2007. I assure you that we will remedy that right away.

I enjoy the ability to look at all races in all states. I don't enjoy the wait for the local results. Last year in our local race, the times were posted on the same day. Its too bad we can't have both ... access to this year's instant local results and a longer wait for unofficial and official results from individuals and other races.

I also do not know what to say here exactly...I did add a Belgian triathlon race. This kind of athlete full follow up is highly developped in the US but here in Europe this is pretty new, so it's a good experience for me, us :-)
I hope to succeed in Antwerp, no podium objective, I remain realistics, reaching the end will already be great to me.
By the way, I did not find where we can post our coming 'races' !?
Aloha
