Mike's First Marathon

This was the most enjoyable and scenic race I have ever run. The race follows California's beautiful highway 1 along the coast. I came in at 4:38, a time I will always be little embarrassed about, but hey it gives me room to improve.

Pre-race meal:
The buses for the race left at 4:15am so I only at a banana and a slice of wheat bread that morning. The night before I went to the Pasta Party and ate plenty of healthy carbs.
How well did you sleep the night before the race?
Fair
More Details:
Went to bed at about 7 because of the early wake-up time, had a hard time falling and staying asleep.

Describe your warmup:
I didn't warmup. It's a marathon you have miles to warm up.

Started out cool and misty, I ran slow because I wanted to save something for the end.

There are so many hills on this course!
Race Details - Finish:
My legs had basically stopped working, I was jogging but a walker could have kept up. I was running 11 minute miles at the end

What went well?
I got to meet lots of other marathoners and triathletes.
What do you need to work on?
I need to work on my marathon end game. There has to be a way to keep your legs from fatigueing during the last 6 miles

Absolutely!
