South American Half Marathon Championship

Great weather. I was nursing a swollen achilles and wasn't sure how fast I could complete the course especially considering how hilly it was. I originally before the injury wanted to do a 6:25/mi pace, but because of the my achilles I decided to shoot for a 6:45/mi and see what would happen. I started out right on pace and while the hills and the descents hurt the tendon a bit, it was more of a discomfort than a pain. Luckily it never got so bad that I was whincing. I finished strong with the last 2 miles being down hill with splits of 6:19 and 6:08. All and all I was very happy to finish in 1:28.
