Pleases to complete in 1:50 with temp and humidity in the high 70s. Finished 6th in my age group. Event left(1) The course is not closed for race only. Bikes and runners are always on the lake...the bikers are blowing through the racers the entire time. This is dangerous. (2) White Rock is a beautiful rolling lake encompassed by a phenomenal 9.4 mile walk, run, bike ... Read Moretrail, but the course is an up and back that leaves the lake area for about 3 miles & goes out to a hwy with loose gravel, running next to cars & fumes - more danger & sucks. (3) mile 5 has water & the next is nearly 3 miles later. (4) when going to pick up the packet at the designated time, the simply handed you a shirt & number - no envelope w/ information, #pins, coupons, etc. (5) first event I have run in 7 yrs without any music or entertainment on the course (I don’t need this, but it adds character to the event). (6) the end of race entertainment was a 3rd or 4th tier Elvis imitator and water & G, no food

Good, relatively flat course with some long grades and a couple of short hills. BAD parts. There are two sections of UNEVEN COBBLESTONE (stupid) just because the organizers wish to show off German Village. Unnecessary and risks injury as almost every year more than one runner sprains there ankle.

Had only run this race once before...6 years before. It was my very first race since High School and I sprained my ankle 100 yards into the race. Strapped the ankle down and after 5 minutes ran the race....just over 8 minute miles...then 6 months of therapy. Today was 70 degrees and 87% humidity. Ran well, but cramped at the end. Should have gone out a little slower than 7:30s for 4-5 miles. There are two reasons to run this race. The most common is as a training race - preparing for a marathon. The other is testing yourself above tthe half marathon and getting the even 15 mile number under you belt. HMSA sponsors the event and over the years they have a sound model. Enjoyable and well run event that provides a mildly rolling, 3 loop course with fuids and time keepers where you need them. Like I said, well run!. If there is a negative it is the pothole at the center of the start which leads to twisted ankles and the entire course is concrete. The end of race and the post race are

Flat 5k course. Finished Freedom 5k. Conditions: 94 degrees/47% humidity/102 Heat Index. Goals: sub 22:00 time without injury. Results: Time 22:01 & got shin splint due to a tight turn (getting old). Note: Smoked my friend & competitor by over a minute, which felt really good, especially since he is equally competitive. His wife was at the finish and as he approached the finish line she said, "Jeff's already done.”
