Ready for Lost Dutchman......but have to be careful to pace it out and not push, because 5 days later have a 100K; Orange Curtain.

I'm a little burnt out after the training and racing. I'm qualifed now to be a marathon maniac, but is that exactly what it means? Taking a nice rest only 25 miles this week.

Lived through the 100K with an okay time of 11:12:12, not good enough for the Spartathlon, but for the first 100K in over a decade, I felt pretty good. Now to sit back and focus on some shorter distances; actually a little tired. Next big race is Bataan!

It has been a while since I've run a race, but needed a little tune up before next weeks Western Region Army 10 Miler. Today's 5K had a lot of fast runners. I thought my 19:20 was a fair time, but it only got me 61st place overall and 8th in my age group. Father time catches up with you sooner or later. I was happy to see all the fast young runners! Saw the Coury brothers and local hero Paul, but could not edge him...only about 10 seconds behind him today.

Dropped outof the Javelina Jundred at 62 miles, but have a new race to keep my OCD mind active. There is a 24 hour race for the future on New Year's Eve/Day. I'm going to be more humble and only hope to go further than my last blow up which took me only 62 miles. Been taking it easy and really just ride the fitness level out and not hurt or overload myself. I felt to tired and heavy at Javelina, probably a Marathon and a Half Marathon within two weeks off JJ100 did not help.

Probably a stupid race to push a little before a 100 mile race. I hit 1:29: 42 for a half marathhon, but I felf very comfortablel from mile 8 on and thouoght it was ok before the big race a week from now. I'll take it easy for the next five days and see how my first 100 goes.

Met an incredible legand from the Phoenix area....Paul Bonnett; what a great guy and humble. Grabbed another Boston Qualifier, but the 3:12:23 was really just a training run and I was happy to be able to negative split the race. I think I'm ready for the 100K next month. Next on the horizon is the Lost Dutchman, but I'll take it easy since it is 5 days before the Orange Curtain 100K.

Hit my goal of going under 40 for the 10K Runner's Den race. It was raining, but it did not seem to effect the race. I was happy to negative split, but I should with the milage I've been doing. I went 19:27 out and 19:24 back for a 38:51.

Army 10 mile qualification race; I posted 65:29 good enough to secure a spot on the fully funded trip to Washington DC 10 Mile Race that will be held on 4 Oct 09 (wish it was not on the same day as the Man Against Horse Race, but what can you do?

Got Disqualified from the Litchfield 10K along with about 15 others who took a wrong turn. Never had that happen. There was not a lead bike so those of us up front all got off course (top 10-15 runners). What a drag, and it was a Grand Prix event.

Lost Dutchman proved as incredible as their advertisements! Beautiful race and it was ran professionally (Arizona's Best). Took it easy and feel ready for the Orange Curtain 100K and my first 100 mile week. Can't wait for a little rest after this weekend!!

Can't wait for the Javelina Jundred. Been holding 70-80 mile weeks for three weeks now and have a long way to go, but think I can hold it and have a great finish. No real races to think of before the big 100 Miler...maybe man against horse?

Back injury during the past weekend. I think it was all the lifting of the kids? I have to get better before Bataan next weekend; nothing like lugging 35 lbs around for 26 miles:)
