WDYDT for Monday, October 20, 2008
After back-to-back race weekends the past 7 days have been a little bit of a let down. Oh sure, I seriously needed to recover following the Chicago Marathon but now I need to get myself all repacked and refocused for the Marine Corps Marathon, while not losing sight of work and family responsibilities. Attending "Der Freischutz" tomorrow night is a good/bad thing because now I definitely have to maximize tonight(?) and Wednesday for running/packing/whatever.

WDYDT for Monday, October 5, 2009
Less than ideal performance at the NH Marathon forced me to forego the ME Marathon to ensure a good performance Pacing at Detroit in 2 weeks. I've been bumped up to 3:20 (from 3:50). Gives me more time for sight seeing after.

WDYDT for Saturday, April 11, 2009
One week to go until the Boston Marathon and my assault on both my course record and personal record finish times and I am actually feeling pretty good about it; expecially after seeing the extended weather forecast has none of the recent rain and temps in the 40's.

Ever get the feeling that you run TOO MUCH? Me neither, but I have been told that racing every other week (or more often) is "ambitious".

WDYDT for Thursday, September 25, 2008
Allergies/head cold that came on following my flight home from Dayton is nearly cleared up. Teleworking today for the sake of the office though. I can't believe that it is almost October and that this is my last "training weekend" until November. My immediate calendar is a bit full of travel for races which I hope doesn't come back to bite me when I tackle the JFK 50 on 11/22.

WDYDT for Tuesday, August 12, 2008
Today, I actually remembered to login and check this site. Free time for online browsing or communications seems to be at a premium lately now that I have launched my 16 week training plan for the JFK 50 Mile Memorial (my first official ultra). I did complete a 30 mile trail run with AR50 winner Jenn Shelton on Memorial Day. (More like, we ran together for a dozen or so miles before she picked up the pace to ensure she didn't miss her flight home, but it was a nice run anyway)

WDYDT for Tuesday, August 19, 2008
Blisters on my the bottom of my big toes from my ill-conceived 12-mile barefoot beach run are starting to heal. I am working on some cross training in the gym today/this week (which is probably a good idea anyway) to stay on target with my race prep. efforts.

WDYDT for Tuesday, December 23, 2008
Happy Solstice, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and all of that jazz. We may have snow, and ice, and slush but it is still a great time to be out running - just not quite as fast, as far, or as long as when the elements are more inviting. Take care, be safe, and have a great holiday with friends and family.

WDYDT for Tuesday, March 17, 2009
Still working on recovering from the weekend...not so much from Sunday's Marathon, or the sightseeing and barbeque of Friday and Saturday, as from the 11 hour "extended" layover in Atlanta Sunday/Monday. That said, Little Rock was a nice change of pace / change of place even if the weather was comparable to back home in Somerville.

New marathon PR in D.C. last weekend and now I am just counting the days (18) until my first official Ultra, but trying to stay focused on training, family, work, politics, and everything else is starting to drive me nuts. Looking forward to a good run tonight (following some free Ben&Jerry's)

WDYDT for Wednesday, December 10, 2008
Preparing for today's office holiday brunch and tomorrow's presentation, all while recovering from last week's icy snowboard excursion as a reward for surviving the JFK 50 Miler (in 8:49:43) the weekend before Thanksgiving which was actually colder than any point of my Canadian snowboard trip.

Still trying to determine how hard/far I can run with my recently developed Neuroma on my right foot. Hill work last night was brutal.

I participated in a pilot program for WBAL-TV 11 (NBC) to conduct video blogs for use on their website during the marathon. They only used about 1/2 of the clips I recorded, this is one of them. Even carrying a camera for 7 miles I still set a new marathon PR that day.

I participated in a pilot program for WBAL-TV 11 (NBC) to conduct video blogs for use on their website during the marathon. I met the producer that morning and after a very quick training session got on my way. I carried a small video camera for the first 7 miles of the race; interviewing other racers, talking about my motivations for competing, offering insights from the race, and just generally trying to do what I was asked so that others might experience the marathon and perhaps get inspired to try it themselves (or at least better understand the crazy people running through the city). They only used about 1/2 of the clips I recorded.

This experience proved to me that I could be a pace team leader, carrying signs/flags/balloons while helping keep other runners inspired and on target.
