Great picture - I came in at 3:45:18 chip time and am heading for Boston also (57 years old). Just registered on Monday morning. I am waiting for comfirmation. I am told that can take 2-3 weeks. I start trainging again on Monday.

We must have been quite near each other, William!! Congratulations on getting to Boston ... I can't wait. I will be heading there in 2009 (hopefully you'll be making a return trip then.) I already did my first recovery run last night. Not an easy one. But at least it started working the kinks out. I was surprised that by Tuesday I wasn't sore anymore. Maybe we all just get better with age (wouldn't that be nice.)

I ran with the 3:45 pace guy until the 25 mile marker then I moved out a little bit faster to make sure that I came in time for Boston. Grant came in at 3:45 28 I believe. I can't wait to get to Boston next year. I am still waiting for comfirmation. I have been told that it can take 2 - 3 weeks for comfirmation. When I get all the pictures from my California support team I'll look to see if you are in any of them. If you are, I'll send you the pictures. Most of the pictures that I have seen so far is of the support team temselves. They were having a blast out there!

You definitely ran by me then. I ran right behind the 3:40 group for the first 7 miles (they were really taking it easy!) and then the 3:45 group slowly passed me. I ran behind them for quite a while before they edged away (my goal was 3:50, so as you can imagine, I'm pretty stoked).
I would bet that I'm in some of your photos! So you had a whole support team, huh?? How did you wrangle that? I just had my husband. I need to recruit a posse for Boston, I think ...

I had some real close friends who moved to Sutter Creek 3 years ago and they live 20 miles east of Folsum. My wife also went out. It was great to have a cheeering crowd out there. They also got the radio announcer at 13.1 miles to yell my name over the speaker system and tell everyone that I was trying to make it to Boston. It really helps to have people there as it gives you additional motivation. I'll look in the pictures this weekend.

  • You can see me in my red Stanford shirt and white hat, underneath the clock. Final chip time was 3:46:28. I think Stanford's win in the Big Game the day before gave me good mojo.
