Brent Schulte
Former athlete, turned couch potato, reborn athlete. Typical story I guess. Started running, for weight management more than anything else back in 2000 (lost a bunch of weight and vowed to NEVER gain it back). Moved to Georgia in 2003 and knew that when Fall and the cooler weather started I needed a goal to continue moviation to run, so I signed up for a Marathon in March. Ended up winning my AG. After that I had the preverbial "what's next". One of my coworkers suggested, with my background I should try a triathlon. 3 months late raced my first International distance and was hooked! Racing Ironman level now and have set a do or die trying goal of qualifying for Kona. Started swimming competively at age 6 until age 18 (major burn out). Also started running at age 13, distance training at age 16. Milestone training week at age 16 was 74 miles, which back in the early 80's when running wasn't as mainstream, was a heck of a lot of miles. Didn't start cycling until age 36. Bike was major form of transportation when I was younger and I put 20 or so miles a day on in the Summer, but that's not the same thing.
