I needed to raise $1,800 during training to remain part of Team in Training for the Hartford marathon. But, I came up short in fundraising-I thank thoughs who gave- the expertise was invaulable-I applied it to training for the NYC Marathon for Nov. 2. I finished the 2008 ING NYC Marathon under my goal at 5:59:54. Placed 35819 out of 38000. Pace mile 13:44.
I've ran the 1st Men's Health Anthlon, 10-1-06, came in a noticiable last place. I'm thankful to those who looked after me on the 52 stair obstacle, last 2 miles, and the many surprisingly applauding me as I finished.
I've been training for 2007 since Dec. 2006. I started Apr 22,in the Meriden CT Daffadil Festival 5k.I finished in aprox. 31:42, 3 minutes faster then last yrs 1st 5k, and much ealier then July. Then, Trumbull, Ct, 5K, 28:46. My best 5K Time in 7 yrs, so far. I beat my last 5k by 3 seconds. My last 5k was flat, this one had 4 hills.
I was selected in the NYC Half and Ing NYC Marathon.
I was pleased with my 1st half marathon results in NYC on 8/5/07. My official time was 2:08:07, overall placing 6,310 out of 9,952 official finishers. My hoped for goal for my 1st marathon in NYC will be a little less then 4 hrs, in 2008.
A better startup in the 2008 5k Daffodil Festival Meriden Ct: finished beating best last year time, in a different race,7/07 at 28:15 by 2 seconds.I did my earliest 5 mile race, at Treads for Threads 2008 Jim Fix Memorial Day race finishing 45:59, 9:12 per mile. CT Race in the Park-another improve- ment at 5k: 27:48 8:59 per mile on 5/10/08. Hope in Motion-continued improvement at 5k: 26:46, 8:38 per mile. sixth place in my age group.
