Thanks Marsha! I'm also checking out active.com for my first official race. I've moved to a GPS based system using my iPhone, which makes me look slower than what Nike+ was telling me.. anyway - there's a race in May right down the street at Point Pinole. I plan to get something in before that one :)

4 miles @ the gym...
They don't call it the "dreadmill" for nothing. The amount of willpower one needs to stay on that thing for longer than 3 miles is insane.
I've fallen off from running. It hasn't been the same since the marathon, with only 69 miles for the month of Oct, so far, and an awful 5K performance last weekend. And I'm still aiming to PR in the Big Sur half in two weeks. With the lack of training, I'm setting myself up for a huge disappointment.

Words cannot explain how bad I felt between miles 22-24. I honestly do not know how I do it. The race truly does start at mile 20.
I hit 36 seconds again. But I got a hard earned PR by 25 minutes off my time at Big Sur.
The marathon is something else. And I can't wait to do it again.

3 miles...
It's been a long week; this marathon vacation could not come soon enough. I missed a couple runs during training due to sheer laziness, and a couple due to injury. I peaked at 55 as opposed to 60, but I got a brutal 21 miler in and my other 18-20 milers went very well.
The weather is looking good for Sunday--no 80 degree heat, at least. I'll be happy just to get under 4:30, but I'll be happiest at closer to 4:20.
I'm taking the red-eye. See you in the Twin Cities.

The unofficial results are in: 3.1 in 24:56.
In answer to my last post, apparently not optimistic at all--if anything, my goal was a bit conservative. But I also had to redeem myself from missing that sub-2 by two seconds last week.
I got a 3 min. PR over my last 5K in Nov. I don't do much of any formal speedwork, so it's amazing to see how much marathon training--solely, upping the mileage--has improved my times at shorter distances.

13.1 in 2:00:01 through the rolling vineyards of the Wine Country half. That sub-2 hr. will be all mine at the Big Sur half this Nov.
I never fail to surprise myself with what I'm capable of come race time. But is my goal of a sub-26 5K next Sun overly optimistic?
