I started running when my 9th grade tennis coach made us go for a 2 mile run after practice. He was also the Men's Varsity XC coach, so I set out to impress and ran it in about 11 minutes. I declined his offer to run on the XC team, I was more interested in Tennis. I didn't really run again until college when I challenged my younger sister to train for and run Grandma's Marathon (I ran 3:50, she ran 3:45)
My sister was on the Women's XC team(s) and her career peaked when she ran DIII Nationals at UW-LaCrosse. I had challenged her to several races over the years and she kept winning. At present, she has mostly retired from running.
In the past two years I've become involved in A Snail's Pace Running Club in Pasadena, and am the Pasadena chapter club President for 2009. I am a Road Runners Club of America Certified Running coach.
In my real life, I am an electrical engineer at St Jude Medical. I design external monitors for implantable medical devices.
