New Gallery: "Nike Womens Marathon 2008 (San Francisco) 10/19/2008" Added a Gallery at 7:19 AM.
Now in its fifth year, the Nike Women’s marathon is truly an experience like none other. It’s all about the amenties…from the race kit pickup at the “expotique” where you can get a pre-race manicure or massage, to the on-course coat check, pedi-care stations, chocolate stop and finisher’s necklace designed by Tiffany handed to you by a fireman in a Tuxedo, it’s totally worth going the 26.2!

On October 19, 2008, I ran like a girl. While my official results got all messed up because of a timing tag mix-up, I know I ran a new PR finishing in 3:54. Thank god for Garmin! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/1137943

New Gallery: "Marathon des Deux Rives (Levis/Quebec) 08/24/2008" Added a Gallery at 8:05 PM.
This is a spectacular, well-supported, expertly-organized race. The journey begins with a ferry ride across the St. Lawrence River and a bus shuttle to the starting line in Levis on the north shore. With all 4 races (5k, 10k, ½ and full marathon) beginning on different points along the course, the field was never crowded and amazing spectator and road support made sure you were never lonely. The course is fast with the first half a steady downhill and flat along one side of the River, followed by a very manageable incline, across the historic Quebec Bridge back flat along the south shore finishing in beautiful Old Quebec City. Now, if only you could control the weather, the race would have been perfect.

New Gallery: "Durham Regional Forest (Uxbridge) 06/14/2008" Added a Gallery at 8:20 AM.
A 12.3 enduro course with a great variety of terrain - single track, tight & twisty, double wides and the "wall of pain" followed by "wild ride" at the 8k mark. A fantastic, well organized trail race.

New Gallery: "Mississauga Marathon 05/11/08" Added a Gallery at 8:43 PM.
A fast point-to-point course that boasts a net negative elevation change of 250 feet with only a few modest inclines on a mainly flat and downhill course. Running through the west suburb of Toronto the route has views of golf courses, posh residences, U of T Erindale campus, strip malls, smokestacks and a lovely lakefront trail through parks in the home stretch. If not for the cold headwind along the waterfront and spectator un-friendly course, it's a great race to record a PR.

New Gallery: "Around The Bay 30k Road Race (Hamilton) 03/30/2008" Added a Gallery at 12:46 PM.
Billed as the oldest road race in North America (apparently "Older than Boston" as the shirts say), the 114th edition went off flawlessly. With temperatures just above freezing and light winds, the run was brisk, and thankfully sunny. The course is diverse - urban, residential, industrial and rural with a bridge crossing the canal into Burlington. The first 20k are flat with the real challenge coming in the last third with rolling hills and a killer climb just afer 25k, Finishing inside Copps Colliseum was great too - warm for spectators and a facility big enough to handle 6000 racers. An exciting start to the 2008 season for me!

New Gallery: "Angus Glen Half Marathon (Markham) 11/04/07" Added a Gallery at 12:45 PM.
This race starts at the beautiful Angus Glen Golf Course where the Canadian Open is held. The route begins in the nearby residential neighbourhood before hitting the rolling hills of this rural setting before returning to the golf course. Hot showers and a big buffet await at the clubhouse and the small field lets you spread out and enjoy the scenery. I highly recommend this race!
