Brian, I just sent you a message but don't think I posted it on your wall. Just wanted to say Thanks ... absolutely no doubt that I will "re-appear" at some point when I am of sound body & mind (okay, some will question whether the latter is actually very likely). Unfortunately, I keep "resting" (fatter and less miles) but my knee, sciatic, hamstrings feel much the same. I'm really on the fence re: the marathon but may decide to run it for fun (although it may not be fun towards the end ... NO long runs for 6 weeks!). By the way, that was a SMOKIN' (!!) time in the Half! I guess you'll have to rate it an "A+" and 6 out of 5. wow! It's so great to see you and other Fast Track team members just rocking on times. Ooo ... what was that weird feeling I just had? It almost felt like "motivation" ...

Hey Brian ... thanks for your concern ... unfortunately it's a combination of work-load, motivation and nagging injuries. The 10k was actually me pushing my 6 year old in a stroller, so not quite as awful as it seemed. I'm fighting a perpectually sore knee and opposite leg sciatic-IT-hamstring-I-have-no-idea-what ... probably as a result of unconsciously compensating for the other knee. So, I'm completely off the wagon at this point ... running 3-8 miles whenever I feel like it and have started lifting again ... on the "motivation side" I think I just got a little too intense to maintain over time, so I'm taking an early winter breather and hoping to heal up a bit and re-discover my motivation as well. I'm going to watch my wife in the Chicago Half and if I don't get arrested, run part of it pushing my daughter in a stroller (just for a workout) ... or maybe keep Eileen company. I hope your training is going great ... hopefully I'll hit some trail/snow runs this winter.

Mini Report for The Chicago Half Marathon & 5K 2009: Run/Half-Marathon Added a Mini Report.
Sunday, 09/13/2009 — Chicago, IL
This was a "A" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 5 out of 5.
Race Notes: Lowered my PR in the half-M by another 57 seconds. Weather was good (no rain this year), and my overall fitness has progressed enough for me to pop off one of the better performances of my running career so far. Felt strong through entire race. 1:18 is now a feasible target.

Mini Report for Park Forest Scenic 5 Mile And More 2009: Run- 5Mi Added a Mini Report.
Monday, 09/07/2009 — Park Forest, IL
This was a "A" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 4 out of 5.
Race Notes: My first race at this distance - but in context of previous performances, I was sub-29 through 8K (which would have been a new PR at that distance). Had it not been for a killer hill in last half mile, I think I would have slipped in under 29 for 5 miles. But all in all, very pleased with the result. Speed & leg-turnover is improving.

Mini Report for DeKalb Cornfest 10K 2009: Run/10K Added a Mini Report.
Saturday, 08/22/2009 — Dekalb, IL
This was a "A" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 4 out of 5.
Race Notes: As usual, the couple hills on the course seemed to disrupt my ryhthm, but all in all, not a bad effort. Humid, but not too warm.
