Marshman is done! I was pleased with my performance and look forward to Marshman 2010. I expect to be biking a lot faster by then... Now that Marshman is over, my focus has shifted 100% to running since the Chicago Marathon is less than 3 weeks away. Instead of tapering, I'm ramping up to 50 miles this week from 20 last week to get some miles in. I call it my backward taper!

Oooohh! Join the age of Old Age, 2.5 weeks ago, I began having trouble with my glut, now thats ok, I thinks' its the hamstring which is worse ie. big muscle to heal. Ran 25k trail run yesterday as I was going to use Fool's 50k as a training run to ramp up to MO 50....I have been backing way down since injury...

This was a "B" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 5 out of 5.
Race Notes: Was undertrained avering < 30mpw going into the race, but fit due to triathlons. Was on sub 2:45 pace until about mile 22 when muscle fatigue took a toll, however still very pleased running a 2:49 marathon without training for it.

This was a "B" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 4 out of 5.
Race Notes: Considering the lack of mileage (about 30/week) due to foot neuroma alcohol injections, this may be one of my best marathon performances. My long run was 18 miles just 2 weeks before the race, with only one other run over 10 miles in the prior 3 months. I attribute my time to triathlon fitness, a flat course, and cool weather. Unfortunately, with about 5 miles to go, I did experience muscle fatigue as expected given my training and lost about 4 minutes. From a cardio standpoint, my heart rate remained low throughout the entire race indicating that I was fit, just simply underprepared for the long of a distance.

This was a "A" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 5 out of 5.
Race Notes: Focus race and was very pleased with performace. Perfect ending to my first triathlon season. By next year, ideally I'll be strong enough on the bike to contend for a win.

This was a "B" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 3 out of 5.
Race Notes: Very frustrated with my performance. The swim seemed longer than .9 miles (and probably was based on post race comments), which helped the better swimmers and enabled them to create more of a gap. Once I the bike, I rode like I had a skirt on. Since I never rode in wet conditions, I was tentative and did not attack the course. The result was a slow bike time. The run was ok, but I should be running sub 37 minutes based on my recent road race times and experience. I need to do more quality workouts after riding the bike. Next year I'm planning to do this race again and should go sub 2:20 unless I decide to keep my skirt on...

This was a "B" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 5 out of 5.
Race Notes: Tune-up race for Marshman Triathlon. Felt strong from the start and held 5:25 pace from beginning to end. The course was flat and fast.

Race Notes: Best triathlon yet. Tri's are still new to me and I'm still learning, but I was real happy with all 3 legs.

1 week until Marshman triathlon, so I did Terri's 5K run in Downingtown as a tune-up race. I actually surprised myself running 16:47 which was faster than expected. I'm assuming the biking and swimming is supplementing my 20-25 miles/week of running very well. The downside is my hamstring is sore today and legs were really heavy running and biking. I plan on massage this week which should help recovery...
