A surprising postscript to the Okanagan Marathon on Oct. 11: Race organizers, realizing that some marathoners (including me!) had been steered the wrong way at the 40K mark, adjusted official finishing times for the extra 580 metres. My "new" official time was 3:31:58.

Cami and I ran the Okanagan Marathon (Kelowna, B.C.) on Oct. 11. Temp. at the start was -10 C, and I was handed more than one cup of frozen water at aid stations. I ran (for me) a strong race but, along with several other runners, took a wrong turn at 40k and finished (according to my Garmin) at 26.55 miles in a time of 3:34. No wonder those last 2K seemed long!

Cami and I finished the Maratona do Rio (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) on June 28. Two weeks of late nights, great Chilean and Argentine wines, and 8-10 miles of walking every day all combined to make our marathon performances less than spectacular. The race course itself ran along all the major beaches of Rio, including Ipanema, Copacabana, Botafogo and Flamengo ... and finished not far from Pao de Acucar (Sugarloaf Mountain). This was our sixth continent --- with only Antarctica remaining.
