thats a very open ended question - get the joe friel triathletes training bible - if you can - study total immersion swimming method (google total immersion swim) - get the dvds, book, join some local trathlon clubs and get whatever free coaching an activities from them you can get - practice swim in open water as much as possible before races - its a bit different from the pool - mainly psychologically - plenty of pther could be said but that can be enough to get your feet wet. - bob
