This was a "A" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 5 out of 5.
Race Notes: I went into this race completely unsure how I would do. After severly spraining my ankle during a race in Highlands Ranch on July 18th, I hadn't really done any running in 6 weeks. In fact, the only time I made much attempt to run at all was the Thursday before this race when I ran maybe 25 minutes, and some of that included walking.
My initial intent was to complete the swim and the bike and then drop out rather than risk re-injuring my ankle during the run.
Well one thing led to another and I completed all 3 segments. The swim went very well, as I believe I finished in the top 20% or so overall. The bike went pretty good, except that it started to rain which made it difficult to see at times through my glasses (no sunglasses this time as it was pretty cool and totally overcast).
When it came time for the run I thought I would totally play it by ear and just see how it went. I mainly tried to take a conservative pace to see if I could at least finish. Go figure, I ended up with my best 10K run ever for an Olympic distance triathlon (no doubt the cool weather helped). About the only problem I had was a blister on my right foot that slowed me down a bit.
Anyway, this was my fastest finish of the year at this distance so I guess you just never know...
