Thought I could run near 2:52, so I'm somewhat disappointed with my result.
Start - 10k: Started easy just in front of the 3:00 group, which went out a little faster than their expected 3 hour pace. Went through 1ok in 40:51 (6:34 pace). Felt fine.
10k - half: a full bladder forced me to take a bathroom break in an alley, so I lost a minute their, but it was a nice break. Overall, this break did not affect my time. Went through half at 1:27:00 (6:38 pace). Still felt fine, and had made up much of my 1 minute potty break.
half - 20miles: Went though the last of my four Roctane Gu Gels at mile 18 on schedule, since the course supplied Gu at mile 19. Near mile 19 I felt the first cramps in my left hamstring. Throughout the rest of the race intermittent cramps plagued by left and right hamstrings.
20 miles -finish: My pace in these miles fell to 7:07. A couple of these miles were at 7:20. Much of the slowdown was due to hamstring clutching. I managed to stave off the complete lockin |
