Michael, I really appreciate the advice! I am a definite novice when it comes to the Marathon. I ran my 20 miles this morning, such a feeling of accomplishment for me. I was so proud of myself. I am grateful for your tips on the Colorado Marathon - the bus, old clothes, etc. I was just thinking about that this a.m. as it was 30 when I started running and warmed up to 50 and I was thinking I needed a wardrobe change. Looks like you did the Denver Marathon last Oct. - I was there doing the half. It was fun and such a gorgeous day. Best of luck in all your races!

Yeah most of it has to do with just running more mileage, and getting older. When I ran my first marathon I was only hitting like 60-65 miles a week. For my last marathon I hit up to 90-110 miles a week, which means running twice a day like 4-5 times a week. You can definitely get sub 2:50 just gotta put the work in and stay injury free of course. The qualifying mark is 2:19 for the marathon or sub 1:05 for the half marathon. I think its a better shot at trying to go for the half marathon time because you can run more of them and it takes less recovery time.
