Shane Sherwood

Shane grew up playing team sports in Tucson, AZ and considedred the mandatory sub 6 minute 1 mile run in pre-season baseball to be an "endurance" activity. In the summer of 2000 he quit his teaching/coaching job and moved to Revere, MA (just outside of Boston) on a whim. His father is an avid Red Sox fan dating back to the 60's which undoubtabley influenced this decision. After watching the Boston Marathon in April of 2001 he decided to make it his mission to run "Boston" that following year at the age of 30. His goal was to break the qualifying standard of 3:10, call it a day and move on to something else less painful. He ran 3:08 under ideal conditions on April 16th of 2002 and swore that was it. Seven years later he has now done 9 Marathons, 5 half Ironmans, 2 Ironman Triathlons, and has fully embraced the lifestyle. Shane currently works at an Investment Management firm in Boston which he has been with since October of 2001. He was sponsored in 2006 and 2007 by Trisports.com and is now a member of "Team Psycho" triathlon club in the Greater Boston area considered by many to be one of the more prestigious and competitive teams in the country.
