I have been running competitively since I was 11...it all began the day I was challenged by the neighborhood bully to race her in the annual mile run at our town's summer field day...I was wearing a skirt and dress shoes at the time, but there was no way I was backing down from a challenge, especially in front of the entire town! Not only did I finish that race, but I came in 2nd, just behind the bully...and I thought "Hey, I'm pretty good at this running stuff!"...I joined the middle school cross country team just a few weeks later and have been at it ever since. I am now a single mom with 5 children and I am finally getting back into shape. For me, running is like air: I need it to breathe. I'm so happy to be back on the roads again and seeing so many friends I haven't seen in awhile. I'm also grateful for the new friends I'm meeting along the way. :)

Ok, so today I was a spectator for a change, hanging out on the sidelines while I cheered on & sprayed my fellow running friends with my garden hose. My children were on water duty too..handing out cups of water to lots of thirsty runners. Ahough I had fun (and I really did!!!), I have to say that I want to be on the starting line again with my running buddies. Soooo, the time has come for me to re-focus & get back on the roads. I'll be on that starting line again very soon! :)

I just found out your race was postponed today.. Another week of training can only help you .. I ran in Meriden in the snow packed very hilly course today but it went well and I'm happy with my effert and 9th place finish.

Tomorrow is my first of 4 races in a marathon "build up series"...my first time ever doing something like this....the race is only a 10k but I haven't run a 10k in ages! Please wish me luck! :)
