I love to run! I've been a runner since high school, but it wasn't till I was in the ARMY that it became second nature. I've been in Las Vegas for about 6 years now. And if you can run in this heat you can run anywhere.

(What did you do today?)
Well I had an awesome weekend! I raced a 10K. And I took over a minute off of my best time! I ran a 42:35 (6:51 per mile pace). I'm so happy. On Sunday I ran 10-11miles with my running buddy. Vegas is now less than two weeks away. I gotta taper and rest up. Today is a rest day. My calves are sore from the weekend.

Hi Dolly, Thank you so much for the encouraging words. It was so extra nice of you to send inspiring and kind words for other runners.And it's so rewarding to know that thru my weight loss story, I was given the opportunity to inspire and motivate others that through discipline, determination, hard work and FAITH, we can achieve our goals in life. I must say,it's thru running that helped me tremendously turned things around positively in my journey of gaining a healthy lifestyle  I find your story inspiring as well. Goodness I had a terrible weekend and I wasn't able to run my 20 miles. I had to take a break for 4 days. This morining I hit the ground running. I ran 9.5 miles and I averaged 7:42 per mile pace for the whole run. The first 3 miles were at 8 minute pace then I began to gradually pick it up. At about mile 7 I did time a mile split (10K race pace) and I ran a 6:45 mile. I ran the last two miles at 7:41 pace. I'm happy with how the workout went. I'm still trying to decide my stratgey for Vegas.

On Saturday morning I ran 20 miles with a guest from out of town. We ran this at a slower pace than usual. I was on my feet for approx. 4hrs. I wasn't very sore in my legs but, my feet were sore the next day. Sun. was a rest day Mon. I ran 3 miles and it felt like a chore. On Tues. I ran 9.5 miles with my running buddy. Wed. was a rest day. This morning I ran 11 miles rolling hills. The weather was yucky this morning but I feel great :). One more long run on Saturday. Then Taper.......

Last Thursday I ran 7 miles with my running buddy. Friday was a rest day. On Saturday I ran 4 miles Tempo in 29:43 on the treadmill. On Sunday I ran 14 miles long slow distance on Monday I ran a recovery run 5 miler. On Tuesday I ran 5.5 miles hills. Wednesday was a rest day. This morning I ran 9 miles. Vegas marathon is one month away!

This was a "A" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 5 out of 5.
Race Notes: Less than 5 weeks after the LV marathon, my friend convinced me to give qualifying for Boston another shot. I had never run two marathon so close together. This time she told me to stay with the 3:40 pace group. It was a great idea. At mile 23 I hit the wall and the pace group started to pull away. I was able to fight and caught up with them. Then at mile 25 I realized that I was gonna qualify and I was able to break away from the pace group and I finished 3:39:15. I was so happy!

Today I ran 7 miles. I did two one mile repeats in the middle of the run. The first mile was up the hill I climbed 159ft and I ran this mile in 7:58. This was kinda uncomfortable. Then I ran a mile recovery then did the 2nd mile down the hill 159ft. I ran this mile at 6:58. This felt easier since I was running down the hill. Then I ran a two mile cool down. Whole work out took 55 minutes

On Friday I ran 2.5 miles on the tredmill. On Saturday I was supposed to run 16 miles. Instead I ran only 10. grrrrrrrrr. On Sunday I ran 12 miles on the treadmill. Today is a rest day.

This was a "A" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 3 out of 5.
Race Notes: This was a heartbreaker for me. I tried to qualify for boston. I was on pace till the halfway point and then I started to have issues. It was a cold day and I was underdressed. The wind beat me up and I feel apart the last few miles. My running buddy ran the last three miles with me and she watched me cry. I missed qualifying for Boston by a few minutes. But I didn't quit and sometimes that makes a finishers medal the ultimate reward. :)

Last Wed I ran 5 miles at lunch time. On Thur I ran 7 miles with my running buddy. On Friday I took a rest day on Saturday I ran 5 miles hard on the tredmill. After my workout I didn't feel very well. I took a nap in the afternoon. And for the past few days I have felt under the weather. I took the last four days off of running and I even took a sick day at work on Monday. Today it was back to the grind. I ran 9.5 miles with my running buddy and her neighbor. We were moving today. :)

Last week was a recovery week. I ran on Friday and Saturday just a few miles. On Monday I ran 7 miles. I split it up into two runs.I also exchanged my running shoes.They were a size too big. On Tuesday I went on a 6 miler with my running buddy. I'm happy the weather is getting cooler. Vegas Mararthon training has begun

I ran the St. George Marathon last Saturday. I finished in 3:32:03 While this was a PR for me. I'm still trying to think of things I could have done better. I was hoping to break 3:30 maybe even get to 3:20:00. My legs are still sore. But I can't wait to run and race again.

Last week I ran around 20 miles all together. I did a 8.5 tempo downhill run on Wednesday. The rest of the week was 3 milers just to get some energy out. This morning I ran 3 miles on the treadmill. I'm practicing running at a slower pace.
