Sports is in my blood, my father was an Olympic waterpolo athlete in the 1952 Helsinki games. He was also a lifeguard for the Los Angeles city beaches, a surfer, a diver and a competitive swimmer. I grew up in Malibu, Ca. and so my days were spent outdoors running around, riding bikes and going to the beach to surf. It wasn't until
1997 that I became more involved in sports.
A co-worker introduced me to road cycling, which led to triathlons and a few ironman
races. I decided to drop multi sports and focus on running 5ks, 10k, 1/2 marathons, marathons, and ultra marathons. At 39, I placed 8th. overall, and 3rd. in division in my first attempt in a 50 miler. At 42, I had PR of 3:12 for the marathon which qualified me for Boston in 2007(3:16). My plans now are to do trail races of marathon
to ultra marathon distance.
