My story as an athlete is one of near total immersion in exploring and various sports as a child, followed by a period of wandering and getting a bit lost and finally to a rediscovery of what I was born to do. This background includes hiking, exploring, swimming, ice hockey, cycling, skiing, soccer and football and includes early success in track at 200 meters, 400 meters and the triple jump. I ran a ~51 second 400 meter race as an 8th grader. I kind of lost my way with running and most of these other pursuits during high school and college years and really only rediscovered running 20 years later in about 2003. I set all my PRs after my 40th birthday.
I feel really lucky now to be able to do something active every day and my bread-and-butter sports include road races, trail races, blade races and nordic freestyle ski races. And I still find time to camp, hike and explore. Marathon goal is <=2:59:59. Blog is http://bimibatoo26-2.blogspot.com/
