My first running life was back in the day, late 60's and through the 70's. I "retired" in 1979 after 600+ races. When you begin your running life as an adolescent and carry on for 12 years, it kind of defines who you are, even when you try to quit. So, though I had periods where I wouldn't run at all, I had many where I would. I lost my edge, but I enjoy getting out there and feeling the wind in my face, pushing up a hill, and the afterglow of a good run. This (2009) is the 4th year where I hope to run in multiple races if my nagging leg injury will let me. Though sometimes frustrating, I still enjoy being in a race, the feelings and instincts remain. I'm a fun runner now, just trying to stay a step ahead of old age!

This was a "" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 1 out of 5.
Race Notes: Nice event, but I ran "flat footed" to avoid strain to my messed up calf muscle. Nevertheless I tried sprinting to the finish but had to let up because of my calf. Missed 3rd by 1 second.

Race Notes: The first and last quarter mile of the race were on the rutty sycamore speedway. In between we ran on the Great Western Trail.

Race Notes: My first run since my injury. I didn't push it and I felt ok. Ran faster than I predicted.

Race Notes: I had a seesaw battle with Guillermo Niño the last mile of the race, once hitting the bike path. I finally took off before crossing Bartlett Rd. Had my best old man time.

This was a "C" Race for me.
I rated my performance a 1 out of 5.
Race Notes: Interesting race. Spectators were not allowed near the runway (security). It was out and back on the runway with the first and last parts of the race at an older part of the airport. I hurt my left leg, probably hamstring. I couldn't really raise it
